The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reports that a total of 41,002,234 SIMs have been registered so far, as of March 6, 2023, representing just 24.26 percent of the total 168,977,773 SIMs in the country.

The deadline for SIM registration is on April 26, 2023, which is less than 50 days away.

The SIM Registration law aims to improve national security and minimize criminal activities associated with the use of unregistered SIMs.

“SIM Registration is an important component of the nation’s cybersecurity agenda; text scams and fraud have been cut down significantly since its implementation. Completing the registration will protect not only you but other subscribers as well. This is why we urge the public to register their SIM for their convenience and protection,” said DICT Undersecretary and Spokesperson Anna May Yu Lamentillo.

Of the total, Smart Communications reports 20,882,843 SIMs registered, which is 30.71 percent of its total subscribers. Globe has 17,005,201 registered, or 19.35 percent of its total base. Meanwhile, DITO reported a total of 3,114,190 SIMs registered, or 23.76 percent of its total.

SIM owners are reminded to be cautious and vigilant when registering their SIMs and to only use the official website links of the PTEs.
