Cyberpunk Edgerunners has been named the best anime of 2022 at Crunchyroll’s 2023 Anime Awards. The Netflix series from Studio Trigger and CD PROJEKT RED edged popular shows such as Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer to take home the top prize.
This win is a testament to the quality of the show, which has garnered critical acclaim for its stunning visuals, engaging storyline, and well-developed characters.
The anime is based on Cyberpunk 2077 video game, produced by CD PROJEKT RED, together with the creative team from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Cyberpunk 2077.
It follows a group of characters known as “Edgerunners” as they navigate the dangerous and unpredictable world of Night City.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners premiered in September 2022 on Netflix from acclaimed Japan-based animation company Studio Trigger as the animation studio. It’s directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) along with assistant director Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare), creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), and character designer Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) and Yuto Kaneko (Little Witch Academia).
