itel is gearing up to launch its latest budget smartphone, the itel S23+, in the Philippine market. The device, which debuted in Africa last month, features a stunning 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display and a 50MP dual rear camera setup.
According to itel’s official Shopee page, the itel S23+ will be available on October 5, 2023. The listing shows a price tag of P10,999, but that could be a placeholder as the price also shows PHP 5,???, which could indicate a promo price or the actual price. The phone’s global suggested retail price starts at USD 120 for base model, which is equivalent to about PHP 6,800.
The itel S23+ is powered by a Unisoc T616 processor, paired with 8GB+8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It runs on itel OS 13 on top of Android 13, and has a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner and a face unlock feature for security.
The phone’s main attraction is its 6.78-inch curved FHD+ AMOLED display with 99% DCI-P3, up to 500 nits of brightness, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It has a waterdrop notch that houses a 32MP selfie camera. On the back, the phone has a 50MP main camera with 10x digital zoom and a secondary AI camera, along with an LED flash.
The itel S23+ comes in two color options: Lake Cyan and Elemental Blue. It also has USB-C port, and several software enhancements including the Dynamic Bar (similar to realme’s Mini Capsule notification), a GPT powered AI assistant called Aivana, and the Atom Storage Technology that “automatically detects and organizes fragmented data on the phone”. The phone is also slim with a thickness of just 7.9 mm and light weight at just 178 g.
The itel S23+ is expected to compete with other budget 50MP smartphones in the Philippines, such as the realme C51, the Redmi 12, and the Samsung Galaxy A05s and Galaxy A05. Stay tuned to the site for more details.
