Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro launch with HyperOS and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro, in China. The new devices are the first to run on Xiaomi’s new HyperOS, the successor to its long time MIUI interface, and the first to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the most advanced mobile processor in the market.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro boasts a 6.73-inch LTPO OLED display with a WQHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It also has a special Leica Summilux lens with a variable aperture that can go from f/1.42 to f/4.0, paired with a 50MP “Light Fusion 900” sensor that allows up to 80% more light intake than the previous generation.

The rear camera setup also includes a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom and a 50MP ultra-wide lens with macro capabilities. The front camera is a 32MP shooter.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a 4nm TSMC process chip with a clock speed of up to 3.3GHz. It comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It also has a 4,880mAh battery that supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, as well as reverse wireless charging.

The phone also has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an in-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, IR blaster, and Wi-Fi 7.

The Xiaomi 14 has a similar design and features as the Pro model, but with some differences. It has a slightly smaller 6.36-inch LTPO OLED display with a lower resolution of 1.2K, but still with a high refresh rate and brightness. It also has the same primary camera sensor but with a fixed aperture of f/1.6. The telephoto and ultra-wide lenses are also the same, but the latter lacks autofocus for macro shots. The battery capacity is also smaller at 4,610mAh, and the wired charging speed is slower at 90W.

Both phones run on HyperOS, which is Xiaomi’s new operating system that aims to unify its smart ecosystem of personal devices, cars, and home products. HyperOS is based on Android 14 and focuses on four major goals: Low-level Refactoring, Cross-End Intelligent Connectivity, Proactive Intelligence, and End-to-End Security.

The Xiaomi 14 series will be available in China. The Xiaomi 14 Pro comes in three variants: 12GB+256GB for CNY 4,999 (~PHP 38,900) / USD 680), 16GB+512GB for CNY 5,499 (~PHP 42,800 / USD 750), and 16GB+1TB for CNY 5,999 (~PHP 47,700 / USD 820) each.
