Samsung Galaxy S20, Note 20, won’t get Android 14 after all

Samsung fans who own the Galaxy S20 or Note 20 series might be disappointed to hear that their devices will not receive the Android 14 update, contrary to previous reports.

Earlier this week, we reported that the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series were included in the list of phones that will get Android 14, based on a footnote in a press release from Samsung Global. However, Samsung has now changed it, removing the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series from the list.

The Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series were launched with Android 10 and have already received two major OS updates: Android 11 and Android 12. Samsung previously announced four years of updates for its devices. However, it looks like it is not applicable to devices released in 2020, which means that the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series will end their software support with Android 13.

This is unfortunate news for the owners of these flagship devices, especially since they were expecting to get one more year of OS updates. The Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series are still powerful and capable phones that can run the latest features and apps smoothly. But they will miss out on the new improvements and enhancements that Android 14 will bring.

The only Samsung devices that will get Android 14 are the ones that were launched with Android 11 or later. This includes the Galaxy S21, S22, and S23 series, the Galaxy Z Fold2, Z Fold3, Z Fold4, Z Flip3, Z Flip4, and Z Flip5 series, and some of the Galaxy A and M series.
