ASUS has just unveiled the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro, the latest additions to its flagship gaming smartphone lineup, at CES 2024. The new devices are packed with a powerful processor, gaming features, a gimbal, and more.

The ROG Phone 8 Series has similar features and specifications, save for a few distinct elements, such as the Aura RGB Lighting logo for the Phone 8 and the AniMe Vision Mini-LEDs for the Phone 8 Pro.

The Phone 8 also comes in 12GB+256GB and 16GB+256GB options, while the Pro model in 16GB+512GB and 24GB+1TB flavors.

The rest of the specs are pretty much the same from here. The ROG Phone 8 Series boasts a 6.78-inch Samsung E6 flexible AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, support, and a peak brightness of 1200 nits.

Under the hood, the Series has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, Qualcomm’s most powerful processor to date with fast performance and enhanced AI capabilities. The phones also feature X-Sense 2.0, a new technology that uses sensors and AI to detect the user’s gestures, movements, and environment, and optimize the phone’s settings accordingly.

For cooling, the ROG Phone 8 Series employs GameCool 8, an advanced internal cooling mechanism that includes a Rapid-Cooling Conductor, which transfers heat from the SoC to the back cover, where it is dissipated by the AeroActive Cooler 5, an external fan accessory that comes with the phones.

The phones also have gaming-friendly AI features, such as Background mode, which allows users to run games in the background without draining the battery or affecting the performance, and X Capture, which lets users record and share their gameplay with ease.
