Blackmagic Camera app comes to more Android phones

The Blackmagic Camera app, known for its professional-grade video recording tools, is expanding its reach on Android. Previously limited to iPhones, then just a select few Android devices, the app is now compatible with a wider range of smartphones.

The latest update adds support for the Xiaomi 13, 14, OnePlus 11, and 12 series, the Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 series, and the Google Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a, joining the previously supported Samsung Galaxy S23 and S24 series, and Google Pixel 7 and 8 phones.

Blackmagic Design has included several new features to enhance the mobile filmmaking experience. Users can now view their footage on a larger external monitor, improving focus and exposure adjustments. Additionally, the app allows connection to multiple monitors, enabling real-time viewing for the entire crew.

A welcome addition for videographers is the follow focus control. This feature allows smooth focus transitions during recording, automatically shifting between pre-set points in the foreground or background.

Streamlining workflows is another focus of the update. Media can now be synced directly to Blackmagic Cloud Organizations accounts, allowing users to choose between personal and company accounts for faster collaboration.

The update also introduces several in-app adjustments, including the ability to dim the screen for extended recording, apply noise reduction or sharpening to captured footage, and utilize 3D LUTs for real-time color grading while recording.
