Now, about the ROG Ally X. The second gen handheld brings several changes from the original device. The biggest one being the location of the microSD card slot, which has now moved away from the exhaust vent.

The Ally X also has double the battery size from 40W to 80W. Memory and storage have been improved as well with 24GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB SSD.

The overall design also saw an update with smoother curves and improved ergonomics. It has two USB-C ports, one a Thunderbolt 4 and the other a USB 3.2 Gen 2 that supports DisplayPort and power delivery.

Most of the other features remain the same as the first Ally. Under the hood is the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme chipset and a 7-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium technology.

It has an asymmetrical stick layout, flat face buttons, a dish-shaped D-pad, and two paddles on the back that can be remapped to any function. It also retains the gyro sensor for motion controls.

The Ally X runs on Windows 11 Home with the Armoury Crate SE. Since it runs on Windows, the handheld supports thousands of games from different platforms, including Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Origin, and Xbox Game Pass.
