Scammers are ramping up their efforts in light of the approaching holiday season. Smart Communications and TNT warn of a new phishing scam targeting mobile users.
The scam involves text messages disguised as official communications from Smart or TNT. These messages urge recipients to re-register their SIM cards or face deactivation. They often include a link that directs users to a fake website designed to look like the legitimate Smart SIM registration portal.
Smart and TNT have emphasized that they did not send these messages. They are, in fact, phishing attempts made to steal your personal information.
Subscribers who have already successfully registered their Smart or TNT SIM cards do not need to re-register. Any messages requesting re-registration should be disregarded.
Moreover, the official Smart and TNT SIM registration portal is still https://simreg.smart.com.ph.
Should you receive a suspicious message, you can report it to Smart’s HULISCAM portal (https://smart.com.ph/huliscam). You can also report suspected cyber threats and fraudulent activities through Smart’s verified social media pages on Facebook and X or by calling the hotline *888.
