Xiaomi recently updated its End-of-Life (EoL) list, which serves as a reminder that even tech giants can’t defy the passage of time. The list now includes a wider range of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices, signaling the end of their software support.
Typically, Xiaomi follows industry standards for software support. Devices released after the Xiaomi 13T will receive four years of Android updates and five years of security patches. Older models, however, are limited to three Android updates and two years of security patches.
Of course, this falls short to manufacturers like Samsung, Google, and OnePlus, which provide up to six years of updates for select devices
Once a device reaches its EoL, it will no longer receive software or firmware updates, including critical security patches. This leaves these devices vulnerable to potential security threats and data breaches.
If you find your device on Xiaomi’s EoL list, consider upgrading to a newer model. Prioritizing device security is crucial in today’s digital age.
