IDC: Transsion, realme, and OPPO lead PH smartphone market

The latest data from IDC shows Transsion, realme, and OPPO lead the Philippine smartphone market in the third quarter of 2024.

IDC Southeast Asia Entry Level Segment Growth

These smartphone brands saw significant growth, fueled by the launch of multiple new models in the low, mid, and premium price brackets. The Entry Level segment was the biggest cobntributor with a 30% share led by Transsion and Xiaomi.

As for the top smartphone brands in the Philippines, Transsion leads the top five with a 37% market share, fueled by a 63% year-on-year growth. The company is composed Infinix, TECNO, and itel.

realme secured the second spot with a 17% market share and a 10% year-on-year growth, powered by the successful launch of devices like the realme GT 6realme 13 Series 5G, and realme Note 50.

OPPO followed closely behind with an 11% share and a 7% year-on-year growth. According to the research firm, the OPPO A3x was the top selling phone in Q3, which was also one of the reasons for the company’s growth.

Xiaomi and Samsung take up the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Both have a market share of 10%. However, Xiaomi had a year-on-year growth of 33%, while Samsung had 10%.

A similar report by research firm Canalys echoes the same sentiment, recognizing the top smartphone companies in the Philippines for their strong performance.

According to IDC, the Southeast Asian smartphone experienced an 11% annual growth with Samsung and OPPO tied at the number one spot.
