The Game Awards 2024 has recently concluded, naming Astro Bot as the Game of the Year. It surpassed favorites such as Black Myth: Wukong and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
Astro Bot is a 3D platformer developed by Team Asobi for the PlayStation 5. Often compared to Mario, the game follows Astro Bot as he travels through different galaxies to rescue his lost crew. Players navigate through levels using the DualSense controller.
The game launched in September 2024, and has been well-received by critics and players alike for its visuals and gameplay. Many reviews highlighted the game’s immersive experience and its ability to transport players to another world.
Other big winners include Helldivers 2 for Best Ongoing Game, Balatro for Best Independent Game, Black Myth: Wukong for Best Action Game, Metaphor: Refantazio for Best RPG, and Tekken 8 for Best Fighting Game, among others.
