NVIDIA unveils Blackwell GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs

NVIDIA has unveiled the highly anticipated GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, boasting significant advancements in AI-driven rendering, creative capabilities, and gaming performance. This marks a significant leap forward, compared to the previous generation’s RTX 40 Series.

The GeForce RTX 50 Series is built on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture, featuring 5th-generation Tensor Cores and 4th-generation RT Cores. This translates to improvements in AI-powered rendering techniques, including neural shaders, digital human technologies, and enhanced geometry and lighting effects.

The top-of-the-line GeForce RTX 5090 GPU is equipped with 92 billion transistors that can deliver over 3,352 trillion AI operations per second (TOPS). This translates to a performance boost of up to 2x compared to the GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, thanks to the Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4 technology.

The good news also extends to laptops as well. GeForce RTX 50 Series laptops bring desktop-grade performance to portable devices. With the latest NVIDIA Max-Q technology, battery life is extended by up to 40%.

Other features and enhancements include:

  • DLSS 4: Boosts frame rates by up to 8x with Multi Frame Generation (a technique that uses AI to generate up to three additional frames for every rendered frame) and advanced AI.
  • Reflex 2: Powered by Frame Warp, it reduces latency by up to 75%. Updates a rendered frame based on the latest mouse input just before it’s displayed on the screen.
  • RTX Neural Shaders: Integrates AI to shaders for film-quality materials and lighting effects.
  • RTX Neural Faces: Create lifelike digital humans with advanced AI rendering techniques.
  • Autonomous Game Characters: Powered by NVIDIA ACE, enabling AI-driven character behavior in games.
  • AI Foundation Models for RTX AI PCs: Empower users with AI tools and microservices for a new level of PC interaction.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs are available for both desktops and laptops, set to launch in the global market in January and February of 2025.

The GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are priced at USD 1,999 (Php 116,700) and USD 999 (Php 58,300), respectively. The more affordable RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 will follow in February, priced at USD 749 (Php 43,700) and USD 549 (Php 32,050), respectively.
