NBA 2K26 is bringing major changes to how the game feels and plays. The update introduces ProPLAY, a system that uses real NBA footage to create smoother and more lifelike animations. This year, it powers a new dynamic motion engine that improves how players move, cut, and plant their feet on the court.

Shooting has also been upgraded. The new Rhythm Shooting system gives players full control over jump shots. Layup timing is now always on for higher difficulty levels, making shot success more skill-based.
Offense also adds signature post moves and custom layup packages based on real NBA players. Defense sees better body-up interactions, improved rim protection, and smarter rebounding feedback.
Controls have been redesigned for faster and more responsive gameplay. New features include Quick Protect for ball handlers, no-dip catch-and-shoots, and directional screen setting. AI has also improved, with smarter offensive plays and better defensive logic.
NBA 2K26 will add intermediate tutorials to help players learn advanced moves like pick-and-rolls and dunks.
The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch. Gen 9 features like ProPLAY and The City are exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
It is now available for pre-order. Early Access begins on August 29, with the global launch set for September 5.
