Acer Swift Go 14 AI review

OLED, Intel Ultra, Copilot+ power, starting at ₱56,999.

Acer has built a reputation for affordable, value-packed laptops. Its latest offering, the Swift Go 14 AI, is a Copilot+ PC that fits the bill. At the time of writing this review, the device is listed as “coming soon” in the Philippines. However, it already boasts compelling specs at an accessible price point.

Starting at ₱56,999, the laptop comes with premium features without the premium price tag. But does it live up to the promise? Let’s find out.

Design & Display

Acer Swift Go 14 AI

The Acer Swift Go 14 AI features a laser-etched aluminum cover, a polycarbonate body, and a 14-inch WUXGA OLED CineCrystal display.

It measures 312.4 x 225.9 x 15.96mm and weighs just 1.39kg. It’s solid yet lightweight, making it easy to carry.

The glossy OLED panel offers a 1920×1200 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. It’s sharp and bright, with deep blacks and punchy colors. A faster refresh rate would’ve been nice, but at this price point, it’s hard to complain.

Underneath, there’s a large ventilation cutout for the cooling system, along with two long rubber feet that prevent the laptop from sitting flush on a surface and help keep it stable.

The hinge feels sturdy, opening smoothly, even with one hand. You can also open the laptop up to 180 degrees. Overall, the build is solid and durable, with minimal flex.

Aside from the Windows key, the backlit chiclet-style keyboard includes a dedicated Copilot key. Typing feels great, with good key travel and a satisfying tactile response. The backlighting is bright and stands out nicely against the dark keycaps.

The multi-touch touchpad is spacious with a smooth surface. It features a glowing Swift logo and, depending on what’s on screen, offers light-up contextual controls for web or media. This may be useful for some, though I personally didn’t use it much during the review period.

Audio comes from two downward-firing speakers beneath the chassis. Sound quality is average, thin, and lacks mids and bass. It’s not quite what I expected from Acer, but it’s serviceable for everyday tasks like video calls, streaming, or casual listening. For better quality, consider using headphones.

The laptop includes a manual privacy shutter that slides to cover the webcam when not in use. The webcam also features an IR sensor, making it compatible with Windows Hello for secure facial recognition login.

I/O Ports

Acer gets high marks for its solid selection of ports, which should cover most connectivity needs for work, entertainment, and peripherals.

On the left side, it has a full-sized HDMI 2.1 port, two USB-C Thunderbolt ports, and a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port. On the right is a microSD Card reader, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, another USB-A 3.2 port, and a Kensington security slot.

Performance

The Swift Go 14 AI can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor with an Intel Arc 140V graphics, up to 32GB LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, rounding out the specs of our review unit.

Acer Swift Go 14 AI

It runs on Windows 11 and comes with Acer’s proprietary software, including AcerSense and Acer PurifiedVoice, which handle updates and offer performance-enhancing features.

In real-world use, the laptop handled everyday tasks easily, from web browsing and document editing to streaming and image work, without any issues. It can also run most games at low to medium settings with respectable performance.

The laptop packs a 65Wh Li-ion battery. During our review, it easily powered through a full workday, which is good since the bundled power brick is a bit cumbersome to carry around. Charging is done via USB-C.

Wrap Up

Acer Swift Go 14 AI

The Acer Swift Go 14 AI is a solid and affordable yet highly capable laptop for everyday use. It’s powerful, configurable with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor, and easy to carry. The build is sturdy and feels durable enough as a daily driver.

That said, there are a few small drawbacks. A faster refresh rate (say, 90Hz) would have been nice. The speakers also leave room for improvement. These aren’t deal-breakers, but they would improve the overall experience significantly.

Still, for users in the market for a portable and powerful laptop that can handle most tasks without breaking the bank, the Swift Go 14 AI stands out as a strong option.
