nubia Music Pro review: Triple speakers, bold design

The nubia Music Pro packs big sound, bold looks, and budget-friendly value.

In 2024, nubia launched a music-focused smartphone with a standout loudspeaker and an ultra-budget price tag. The company followed that up with the nubia Music Pro, this time packing triple ultra-large speakers, a 120Hz display, and a familiar sub-₱4.3K price point.

So, does it live up to the promise of big sound and smooth performance without breaking the bank? Let’s take a closer look.

Design & Display

The nubia Music Pro features a bold and colorful design. Our review unit came in the Pop Art colorway, a mix of reds, yellows, and blues, anchored by a large vinyl-inspired orange speaker at the rear with LED lights. The other variant, Melody Wave, leans into an EQ-inspired aesthetic.

This handset is unapologetically loud and expressive. It’s clearly designed to make a statement and rebel against the bland, uniform look of today’s smartphones.

Up front, you get a 6.7-inch display with a 1600×720 HD resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It’s enough for everyday use, though colors tend to look a bit muted compared to higher-end panels.

Visibility in direct sunlight is also below average. Still, for a device priced under ₱4.3K, it’s more than capable of handling video playback, social media scrolling, and casual browsing.

Layout is standard: volume and power button (with fingerprint sensor) sit on the right side, while the SIM tray is on the left. The bottom side houses a 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, USB-C port, and speaker grille.

There’s another mic at the top, and audio is delivered through a triple-speaker setup: one in the earpiece, one at the bottom, and a third mounted on the rear.

Performance

The nubia Music Pro runs on a UNISOC T7200 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It ships with MyOS 14, based on Android 14, and includes features like Live Island 2.0, nubia’s take on Apple’s Dynamic Island, along with some of AI-powered image editing tools.

As expected at this price point, there’s some bloatware pre-installed, and software updates likely won’t be a priority. It is a budget phone, after all. Just uninstall or disable the apps you don’t need.

Performance is surprisingly good for everyday tasks. Basic apps run fine, and navigation feels responsive. Heavier apps and multitasking do cause some stutters, but nothing that breaks the experience. For casual use, it holds up well as a daily driver.

For benchmark scores, it got 328,069 points on AnTuTu Benchmark. On Geekbench 6, it recorded 393 in the Single-Core Test and 1,345 in the Multi-Core Test. In 3DMark Wildlife, the phone managed 427.

Audio is where the Music Pro tries to stand out. It packs triple ultra-large speakers: one at the bottom, one in the earpiece, and a third on the back.

For a budget device, sound quality is decent: it’s clear, not tinny, and loud enough for personal listening. Bass and mids are thin, and pushing the volume too high can cause distortion, but overall, it’s better than expected.

nubia also added a few interesting features. You can share music via NFC with other Music Pro devices using “touch-to-share,” and even turn the phone into a Bluetooth speaker by pairing it with another device.

Call performance is average, with no major issues to report. Voice clarity is acceptable, and signal stability is okay for everyday use.

The nubia Music Pro packs a 5000mAh battery, which easily lasts a full day with light to moderate use. In our testing, charging from 0% to 100% with the bundled charger took more than two and a half hours.

Cameras

The nubia Music Pro features a 50MP rear camera paired with a 5MP front-facing shooter. The camera app is straightforward to use, with familiar modes like Night, Pro, Panorama, and Dual Capture within reach.

Surprisingly, photo quality is quite decent in good lighting. Shots come out with punchy colors and solid detail, and even indoor photos hold up well. That said, the camera’s limitations become more noticeable in low-light situations, where noise creeps in and details become soft.

The app also occasionally lags when capturing photos, which can lead to motion blur if you or the subject moves right as the shutter fires.

Selfie Test

Selfies are serviceable. Sharpness and detail lean soft, and colors have a slight warm yellow cast. Still, they’re good enough for casual social media posts and video calls.

Wrap Up

For just ₱4,299, the nubia Music Pro delivers more than you’d expect. It offers decent performance, capable cameras, and a few clever features that make it stand out in the budget space. It’s hard to fault a device at this price point.

But where it truly shines is in music playback. The triple-speaker setup delivers clear, surprisingly loud audio, and the ability to use the phone as a Bluetooth speaker adds real value.

If you’re a music lover looking for a budget-friendly smartphone, the nubia Music Pro is worth considering. It lives up to its promise of being a music-centric device.
