Adobe uses Nano Banana for Photoshop’s generative fill

Designed for creative elements like props, accents, and imaginative scenes.

Adobe has added Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model, also known as Nano Banana, to Photoshop’s Generative Fill tool in its latest beta release. The update gives users more control over how AI-generated content looks and feels, especially for stylized and graphic edits.

Nano Banana is designed for creative elements like props, accents, and imaginative scenes. It works well for posters, concept art, and visual experiments. Users can type a prompt, generate content, and refine it using Photoshop’s layers, masks, and adjustments within the same workspace.

This new model joins Adobe’s Firefly and Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.1 Kontext [pro] inside Photoshop. Each model uses a different style. Nano Banana leans toward bold and artistic. FLUX.1 focuses on realism and perspective. Firefly is built for lifelike, production-ready results.

The update makes Generative Fill more flexible. Designers can switch between models depending on the project. The tool now adapts better to different creative needs.

Nano Banana is available now in the Photoshop beta app. Users can update to try it out.
