Xolo Maridueña joins Netflix’s One Piece Season 3 as Portgas D. Ace

Season 2 premieres March 10, 2026. Season 3 will start filming later this year.

Netflix has announced that Xolo Maridueña will play Portgas D. Ace in Season 3 of its live-action One Piece series. Maridueña is best known for Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai, and now takes on one of the most popular characters from the original manga.

Filming for Season 3 is set to begin later this year in Cape Town, South Africa. Maridueña joins Cole Escola, who was previously revealed as Bon Clay. More casting news is expected soon.

Season 2, titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line, premieres on March 10, 2026. The series is produced by Tomorrow Studios and Shueisha, with Eiichiro Oda, Joe Tracz, and Ian Stokes among the executive producers.

The live-action One Piece debuted in 2023 and quickly became a global hit. It reached No. 1 in over 75 countries and was the first English-language Netflix show to debut at the top spot in Japan. It has since earned nearly 100 million views and 11 Emmy nominations in the Children’s & Family category.

Based on Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga, One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy’s journey to become King of the Pirates. With Season 3 moving forward, the show continues to build on its strong momentum.
