New Stargate TV series coming to Prime Video

The popular sci-fi franchies started that started with the 1994 film.

Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed that a new Stargate television series is in development for Prime Video. This will be the latest chapter of a franchise that started with the 1994 film and grew into several successful TV shows.

Martin Gero, known for Blindspot and Keep Breathing, will lead the project as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. He will be joined by Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures, along with Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, who both worked on the original Stargate movie. Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi, longtime creative figures in the franchise, will serve as consulting producers.

The Stargate universe has built a loyal global audience over three decades. Its mix of science fiction adventure and exploration of humanity’s place in the cosmos has made it a staple of genre TV.

Amazon MGM Studios said the new series will respect the franchise’s legacy while aiming for a bold future.
