Epson partners with Filipino designer to transform heritage into wearable art

Epson Philippines has partnered with Urban Label by Maria & Co to launch a textile collection that blends cultural heritage with modern design.

The project highlights the Waling-Waling, known as the Queen of Philippine Flowers, as the centerpiece of garments that merge tradition with contemporary aesthetics.

The collaboration was made possible through ES Print Media, Inc., which connected Epson with designer Beatriz Nicole Benadera. Instead of heavy embellishments, the designs rely on fabric prints, color, and placement to shape each silhouette.

Epson’s SureColor SC-F9430H digital textile printer played a key role in the collection, translating photographic references of the Waling-Waling into precise and vivid prints.

Beyond its technical capabilities, digital textile printing also supports mindful production. This balance of precision and sustainability aligns with growing calls for more thoughtful approaches in today’s fashion industry.

“Working with Epson completely changed my creative process,” said Benadera. “It allowed textile design to become part of each garment and shifted my approach from designing around limitations to designing with confidence.”

Masako Kusama, Director and President of EPC, emphasized Epson’s role in bridging tradition and modernity. “Our solutions help designers execute ideas with clarity while supporting mindful production,” Kusama said.
