Report: Filipino women show higher genAI completion rates

Filipino women are completing Generative AI (GenAI) courses at slightly higher rates than men, according to Coursera. The report shows women finish courses 0.3 percent more often, highlighting their persistence once they gain access.

Enrollment numbers also point to steady growth. In 2025, women made up 39.1 percent of GenAI learners, up from 38.4 percent in 2024. While men still make up the majority, more women are joining the field.

The Philippines itself ranks 20th worldwide in gender equality, reflecting progress in education and work opportunities.

Course design matters. Programs that are beginner‑friendly and focused on real applications attract more women. Meta’s Social Media Management course, for example, has 65.4 percent female enrollment.

Other popular choices include digital marketing and AI in education, showing interest in practical and teaching‑related skills.

Aside from technical learning, Filipino women are also investing in human skills like critical thinking, where they hold a 46.5 percent share. This mix of AI and human skills suggests readiness for a workforce shaped by technology.

The report points out that access remains the main challenge. More inclusive pathways, localized content, and visible representation will help ensure women play a bigger role in the country’s digital future.
