Microsoft is scaling back some of its Copilot AI features in Windows 11. The company is removing or reducing AI integrations in apps like Photos, Notepad, Widgets, and the Snipping Tool.
Instead of putting Copilot everywhere, Microsoft says it wants to focus on features that are useful and improve performance.
The change comes after feedback from users who felt that AI was starting to feel more like clutter. Microsoft also dropped plans to add Copilot branding deeper into Windows, including in Settings and File Explorer.
The company is now taking a simpler approach, keeping AI where it makes sense and putting more effort into speed and usability.
At the same time, Microsoft is rolling out updates that users have been asking for. These include moving the taskbar to different positions, faster File Explorer, smoother Widgets, more control over updates, and upgrades to the Feedback Hub and Insider Program. The company said these improvements are shaped by community input.
