YouTube has denied claims that it is testing 90‑second unskippable ads, following complaints from users who said they encountered unusually long ad formats.
Reports surfaced on Reddit and X from viewers who claimed they were forced to watch ads that last up to 90 seconds with no option to skip. These quickly fueled speculation that YouTube was experimenting with longer ad formats beyond its current 15‑ and 30‑second unskippable ads.
TeamYouTube responded directly on X and confirmed it is not testing such a feature. “YouTube does not have a 90-second non-skippable ad format. This isn’t something we are testing right now. We’re looking into this further,” it said.

YouTube has been expanding ad formats in recent years, particularly on smart TVs, where 30‑second unskippable ads were added in 2023. The company says it is rolling out a fix to correct the timer bug.
