YouTube rolls out option to disable Shorts on mobile

Looking to cut down on doomscrolling? YouTube is rolling out a new setting that lets mobile users set a limit or disable Shorts entirely.

You can find the feature in YouTube’s Settings under Time management, where you can set a daily limit to your Shorts Feed.

Until now, the minimum was 15 minutes. But a new “0 minutes” option allows users to block Shorts completely, though some users report it has not yet appeared on their devices.

This gives viewers more control, especially those who prefer long-form videos or want to reduce distractions.

YouTube has been expanding its digital wellbeing tools to help users manage screen time. The Shorts disable option builds on that effort, offering a straightforward way to avoid endless scrolling.

The rollout has been confirmed in certain regions, including India, and is expected to reach more users in the coming weeks. However, the “0-minute” option may not be available for everyone immediately.
