Google announces Android Halo

Google has rolled out Android Halo, a new feature that makes AI agents more visible on your phone. It shows users when assistants like Gemini Spark are active, without disrupting what you’re doing.

Halo adds a small status indicator at the top of the screen. It lights up when an AI agent is working on a task, entering live mode, or sending a message. The indicator stays visible across apps, so you always know what’s happening in the background.

The first assistant to use Halo is Gemini Spark, Google’s proactive AI agent. More AI agents are expected to follow later this year.

Alongside Halo, Google is also updating the Privacy Dashboard. Soon, you’ll see real-time indicators, detailed logs, and a 24‑hour review of which assistants were active and which apps they accessed.

Google also teased future Halo features powered by Gemini Intelligence, but details are still under wraps. For now, the focus is on transparency, making sure users stay in control while AI agents quietly handle tasks.
