Google has started rolling out Android 17 to Pixel devices, bringing new multitasking tools, foldable gaming features, and stronger security. Other Android phones will get the update later this year.
One new feature is the Bubble Multi‑Tasking, which lets any app run in a floating window. On bigger devices like the Galaxy Fold and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, there’s also a bubble bar for quick switching and resizing.
For content creators, Android 17 adds Screen Reactions. You can now record your screen and selfie video at the same time, perfect for TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook posts.
Foldable phones get a new Gaming Mode. Games can run in a split layout, with gameplay on top and a virtual gamepad below. External controllers are supported with remapping options, while improved memory cleanup helps keep HD gaming smooth.
Security and privacy also see upgrades. Apps can now request temporary location access or selective contact sharing. The updated Find Hub lets you mark a device as lost and lock it remotely with biometrics.
Google also tightened PIN security with fewer attempts allowed and longer wait times between failed unlocks.
Pixel phones get extra features. Google Photos conversational editing is rolling out in select European countries, while the Pixel 10a gets voice translate.

Quick Share is now available on the Pixel 9a and 8a. The Pixel Watch also gains Emergency Sharing, tied to crash, fall, and pulse detection.
