Apple Watch users can earn Global Running Day award

Apple is marking Global Running Day on June 3, 2026, with a special challenge for Apple Watch users. Complete a 5K run (3.1 miles) using the Workout app or any app connected to Health, and you’ll unlock a limited‑edition award in the Fitness app.

Global Running Day is about encouraging people to move and connect through running. Apple’s award adds a digital incentive, making the event more engaging for its community of Watch users.

The Apple Watch already packs features built for runners. You get Custom Workouts, Workout Views for pace, distance, and heart rate zones, plus advanced metrics like stride length and ground contact time.

Tools like Pacer and Race Route help track progress and keep you motivated. Pair these with Apple Fitness+, which offers guided sessions and collections like Run Your First 5K, and the Watch becomes a solid training partner.

The award is part of Apple’s tradition of themed challenges tied to global events. It’s a simple way to motivate users while promoting health and consistency. Once the run is logged, the badge appears automatically in the Fitness app.
