Metrobank rolls out new anti-fraud features for safer digital banking

Metrobank is stepping up its digital security as online scams continue to rise. The bank rolled out new anti-fraud features to protect users from phishing, account takeovers, and identity theft. The move comes after the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas reported higher cyber fraud losses in 2025.

The new tools give customers more control over their accounts and make it tougher for scammers to break in.

  • 24-hour Cooling-Off Period – When key account settings are changed, Metrobank automatically activates a 24-hour safety buffer. Transactions are paused for one day so users can spot and report suspicious activity before any money moves.
  • Device Management Controls – Users can now see and manage all devices linked to their Metrobank Online account. If something looks off, they can remove the device right away.
  • Login Alerts – Real-time notifications pop up when someone logs in from a new device or location, helping users catch unusual activity early.
  • Extra Authentication Checks – Added verification steps for high-risk transactions to ensure only authorized users can proceed.

Metrobank says these updates are part of its ongoing push to make digital banking safer and simpler for Filipinos. As scams get more advanced, the bank plans to keep improving its systems to protect customers’ money and personal data.
