Globe, Smart, and PLDT are taking action to block websites that stream school shootings and violent content. The telcos said the move is part of their duty to protect children online and keep harmful material off their networks.
Globe General Counsel Froilan Castelo explained that the company is committed to making the internet safer for young users. PLDT confirmed it will block more than 100 sites linked to extreme violence, saying that such content has no place on its platforms.
Globe also pointed to its ongoing campaign against child exploitation. The telco blocked over 438,000 domains containing child sexual abuse material and invested $2.7 million in advanced filtering systems. These efforts are part of its 2025 program to fight online abuse.
Both Globe and PLDT said they continue to work with government agencies and international partners to strengthen online safety. Smart Communications, PLDT’s mobile arm, is also part of the initiative.

This move signals stronger cooperation between telcos and regulators to protect children from harmful online content. More site blocks are expected as part of ongoing safety programs.
