Nothing OS 5.0 rollout brings 80+ updates to your phone

Nothing has announced the Nothing OS 5.0, based on Android 17. The new OS brings over 80 updates across design, personalization, performance, and AI. Carl Pei calls it the company’s biggest software update yet, promising a more refined, personal, and responsive experience.

The update refreshes the look of the system with new typography, icons, spacing, and motion. The status bar is cleaner, while the Camera app now scans QR codes faster. The Gallery adds sorting options by “Recently added” or “Captured date.”

Transparent UI details appear across menus, and the lock screen gets two new clock faces with more color choices. Glyph features are now grouped into a dedicated app for easier access.

Pei says the sharper design and smoother motion make the OS feel more polished. Performance tweaks also improve responsiveness, while personalization tools give users more ways to tailor their phones.
