Nothing Phone (4a), (4a) Pro, (3a), and (3a) Pro get Android 17 update

Nothing has started rolling out the stable Android 17 update to the Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro. The update brings Nothing OS 5.0 and a mix of new design changes, features, and camera improvements.

The rollout is happening in stages, so not everyone will get it at the same time. If you’re using one of the supported models, the update should arrive in the coming days or weeks.

One of the biggest changes is the refreshed interface. Android 17 adds a dedicated Glyph app, separate notification and Quick Settings panels, and a redesigned Settings menu. Users also get a new Translucent theme, more lock screen clock styles, custom clock colors, and the new Geist font.

Nothing also added new privacy and convenience features. A privacy indicator now shows when apps access sensitive functions such as location services and AI-related processing. The update also brings new widgets, including Collector, Away Time, and Glyph Timer.

The camera app gets an upgrade as well. On the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, users can try a new Tuning feature with seven adjustable effects. The phones also gain updated Presets, support for filters in video recording, and Dual-view Video mode.

Meanwhile, the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro add Dual-view Video recording and faster Essential Voice transcriptions. Across all supported devices, Nothing says users can expect improvements to video recording, zoom quality, close-up shots, and QR code scanning.
