Apple launches HomePod mini 2 with smarter Siri

Apple launched the new HomePod mini 2, adding smarter Siri AI, better sound, and fresh design features. The compact speaker costs USD 149 (around PHP 9,400) in the US and ships starting October 30, 2026.

The highlight is Siri AI, a more natural assistant that understands context and helps with music discovery. It will roll out first in countries like the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India, Singapore, South Africa, and New Zealand. The EU will not get it at launch.

Audio gets a big upgrade with 360‑degree sound, stereo pairing, and multiroom support. Pairing with the new Apple TV 4K unlocks four‑speaker surround sound. Apple also added Sound Glow, a visual effect that makes the top pulse and glow with music, matching album art colors and showing ambient animations.

The HomePod mini 2 doubles as a smart home hub. It supports voice‑controlled automations, secure accessory management, and sound recognition for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. It also works with video doorbells using Face Recognition. Privacy stays a focus, with requests handled on‑device or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute.

Apple pushed sustainability with 100% recycled rare earth elements, copper, gold plating, and tin solder in circuit boards. Packaging is now fully fiber‑based and recyclable.
