Facebook launches Your Algorithm for AI-powered personalized recommendations

Facebook has launched Your Algorithm, a new AI-powered tool that gives users more control over what they see in Feed and Reels. The feature lets users tell Facebook what content they want, with recommendations updating in real time.

The new tool is available through the three-dot menu on posts. It gives users a dedicated space to add and manage topics they want to see more often.

The company is also adding new feedback options in Feed and Reels. After tapping “Interested” or “Not interested,” users may see follow-up questions that ask for more details. They can then explain, in their own words, what they like or don’t like about a post.

Facebook said recommendations can change right away based on that feedback. This means users can shape their Feed and Reels without waiting for the system to learn from likes, comments, or watch history alone.

The update uses large language models (LLMs) to better understand what people are asking for. These AI systems look at natural language feedback and combine it with existing signals, such as engagement and viewing activity.

According to Facebook, this helps its ranking systems better understand user interests and intent. Over time, the company expects Feed and Reels recommendations to become more relevant and responsive to what users want to see.

Facebook has also updated the three-dot menu to make these controls easier to find. The changes give users a more direct way to manage recommendations and adjust the content that appears in their Feed and Reels experience.

For users, the update means more control over what shows up on Facebook. As the feature rolls out, people can directly tell the platform what interests them and see the results almost immediately.
