Meta has agreed to child safety measures set by the Philippine government. This covers faster takedowns, stricter controls, and closer cooperation with local authorities.
Meta will speed up removal of harmful deepfakes and respond quickly to subpoenas from agencies like the NBI. The company also committed to share subscriber data and traffic information to help investigators stop threats before they spread.
A technical working group will be formed to improve coordination. This includes handling child abuse cases, online scams, and harmful AI content. Meta also pledged to work with law enforcement on requests tied to online abuse and harassment.
Lawmakers are also pushing for stricter rules. Senate Bill No. 2424 seeks to regulate children’s access to social media. Roblox joined the talks, promising to integrate its verification system with the National ID and open a local office in October.
Officials said these steps are part of a wider push to protect minors online. The government has warned of possible bans if platforms fail to meet safety standards. Meta’s commitments are seen as a way to avoid stricter penalties while aligning with PH child protection goals.
