Apple and Meta are working together to bring the Muse Spark Open model to Macs. This move lets developers run Meta’s large AI model locally using Mac Studio systems.
Muse Spark Open is a massive AI model with 816 billion parameters. Meta says 42 billion of those are active at a time, making it one of the largest models that can run on a desktop setup.
To run the model, developers need at least two Mac Studios powered by Apple’s M5 Ultra chips. For heavier workloads, they can connect up to four systems.
Meta says the setup can handle AI agents, code generation, and video analysis. Because the model runs locally, prompts and data stay on the machine instead of going to Meta’s servers.
A Mac Studio setup capable of running the model starts at around USD 10,799 (configuration in PH starts at PHP 737,490). The high cost makes it better suited for developers, researchers, and organizations than everyday users.

For developers looking to run AI locally, this offers another option outside cloud-based platforms. It also shows how Apple hardware is becoming a platform for larger AI models.
