IOAI Philippines 2027 opens free AI training for students

Filipino K-12 students who want to learn more about artificial intelligence can now apply for IOAI Philippines 2027. The program offers free AI training and a chance to represent the Philippines in international AI competitions.

The national selection is organized by Ateneo BUILD and is open to eligible Filipino students studying in the Philippines or abroad. Applications are open until November 11, 2026.

One thing that makes the program more accessible is that no programming experience is required for the first round. Students can join even if they are just starting to explore AI and related technologies.

The first-round assessment will run from November 16 to 22, 2026. It can be taken online using a mobile phone.

Those who make it through the first stage will move on to the next rounds of competition. The top 300 participants will advance, while the national finals are scheduled for February 20 and 21, 2027, at Ateneo BUILD.

The top four finalists will earn a spot on Team Philippines and compete at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2027 in Singapore. The top four non-graduating students will also get the opportunity to compete in the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (APOAI) 2027 in Russia.

The program comes after a strong performance by the Philippine team at IOAI 2026, where all four delegates brought home medals.
