Samsung Drops Phone Prices, Galaxy S Now Only P17,990!

This is your chance to buy yourself an Android phone for a very low price.  Samsung Philippines has an ongoing summer sale dubbed “Samsung Summer Supreme Deals”. Included in the sale are Android handsets from Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy S, priced at around Php30,000 at launch, is now priced at Php17,990.  This is a very good deal considering the specs of the Galaxy S.  Although the Galaxy S II is possibly launching in the Philippines soon, the feature set of the Galaxy S is more than sufficient for a smartphone.  The price of Php17,990 is practically the price of a second hand Galaxy S.

Galaxy S Features

  • Samsung 1.0GHz processor
  • 4-inch screen (480×800 pixels)
  • 8GB internal storage (up to 32GB via microSD)
  • HSDPA, WiFi 802.11n w/ DLNA
  • Bluetooth 3.0 w/ A2DP
  • 5MP autofocus camera
  • 720p @ 30fps video recording
  • 2nd front-facing VGA camera for 3G calls
  • Android OS 2.2
  • GPS w/ A-GPS support
  • 1500mAh Li-Ion battery

Also included in the sale are the Samsung Galaxy Ace, the Samsung Galaxy Fit, and the Samsung Galaxy Mini.  Here’s the current price of these handsets.

  • Samsung Galaxy Ace — Php14,490
  • Samsung Galaxy Fit — Php10,490
  • Samsung Galaxy Mini — Php8,990

Samsung also dropped the prices of non-android handsets like the Samsung Chat 335, Samsung Punch, Samsung Champ, Samsung Corby II, Samsung C3010, Samsung E2230, Samsung E1175, and Samsung E 1080.

  1. Sale ba to or price hike? I just bought my Galaxy Ace at P13.350 sa ElectroWorld 2 days ago.

  2. actually its not just the lcd which differs the amoled from the super clear lcd version. The SL also uses an inferior sgx 530 graphics while the superamoled jas the faster sgx 540. Super amoled has the hummingbird chipset while the sl version has the TI OMAP 360 chipset.

if you use memory heavy apps, that difference in speed is important. anyone who has had experience using both versions? maganda kung may makapagsabi if the difference in speed is noticeable

thanks for the heads up. though at 17,990, pwede na rin since other specs are almost the same. screen lang main difference. its still 2k off from the SLCD price. although i think it’s the AMOLED logo at the galaxy S picture on the ad. misleading nga.

Sir i beg to disagree, hindi lang screen ang difference ng i9000 sa i9003.
Internal specs vary a lot, most notable yung 4GB lang na internal storage.

sna naman basahin mabuti ng iba yung ad kc nakikita ko yung nkasulat its clear lcd not amoled….. fyi lng po they both have the same logo but differ in the wordings…. i already had them both kaya alam ko. the difference in specs doesnt matter. You’ll see the difference of both when you use it. The older version is slower when memory used already acumilates half of memory capacity but the AMOLED edition still works fine, and bisides that fact, amoled really has a much satisfying screen than that of the super lcd.

yeah, thats probably the reason for the price drop
