We have all sorts of messaging apps in the world today. There’s Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, BlackBerry Messenger, Google+ Huddle and Apple’s forthcoming iMessage to name a few.
Now Facebook has joined the fray by introducing the Facebook Messenger App that lets you send messages directly to individual friends or groups. Messenger is a separate app and not attached to the Facebook app, which means if you only need to send a message, using this will be quicker than firing up your Facebook app. Messages are delivered through notifications and texts, so your friends get them instantly. The app offers an option to share your location and attach photos to the messages you send.
The Facebook Messenger App is available on both iOS and Android platforms. The app is the result of Facebook’s recent acquisition of the messaging company Beluga.
