Samsung recently added another Android handset to its line-up. It’s a tough phone this time around and it targets the active and the adventurous types. The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 is being marketed as a durable mobile device with all the essential smartphone capabilities. It is said to be dust-proof, sand-proof and even water-proof. The Galaxy Xcover 2 is optimized for the most rugged outdoor conditions. It’s water resistant to a depth of one meter for up to 30 minutes, which means you can take photos under water using this phone.
To make the package complete, the Galaxy Xcover 2 has pre-downloaded Google map data, an enhanced GPS plus GLONASS, LED flash which doubles as torch, and a battery capacity that lasts 570 hours. It also features the Cardio Trainer Pro workout application for those who are into workouts.
In terms of hardware, there’s nothing really mind-blowing about the Galaxy Xcover 2 but it’s still a capable handset. It has a 4-inch display, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front camera, Bluetooth 4.0, a 1GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The Galaxy Xcover 2 runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and features the usual software improvements from Samsung like Motion UI, S-Cloud, S Voice, Best Shot and Smart Stay.
