Typhoon Yolanda or Haiyan which stuck the Philippines recently is said to be the strongest typhoon ever recorded in history. Carrying winds with gustiness of 200-300kph, Yolanda brought destruction to areas in the Visayas, with Tacloban City in Leyte being seen as the most damaged area.
Atom Araullo, a reporter from ABS-CBN covered the onslaught of the typhoon and bravely stayed outside while strong winds were pounding the street he was standing on.
Atom Araullo reported live on the ABS-CBN show Umagang Kay Ganda at around 6:40a.m. and his report told a picture of how strong the typhoon was. He was able to get a footage of a storm surge carrying piles of debris on the streets. The report trended worldwide on Twitter and was shared on Facebook by Filipino netizens.
