Bose has always been synonymous with sound quality. And the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth On-Ear Headphone is one of the reasons why. It’s clearly one of the best, but it comes at a price.
The Bose SoundLink BT headphones is one of my personal favorites when it comes to design. I like my headphones to look clean and simple. The minimalist design, the muted colors and the matte finish combine to give this headphone a sophisticated charm that few strive for.
In terms of build quality, it is one of the best. The touch of the matte plastic feels good. The quality is very premium quality.
The earcups are covered with soft faux leather. It is very comfortable to wear, even in prolonged listening sessions. The outer side of the earcup has the Bose logo. It’s not too big nor small, but just the right size. And on the insides, you’ll find the printed L and R to indicate the left from right ear cup.
The right earcup is where you will find the power switch, the micro USB charging port, the control buttons, and the battery and Bluetooth indicator lights. The control buttons is placed in a comfortable position. It is easy to reach and has a nice and pronounced feeling when you press it. The indicator lights are not that easy to spot, especially if the cups are folded in.
The top of the headband is covered by a soft and smooth fabric. Its comfortable to wear. The band fits nicely around my head without being too tight.
It’s always a good thing when headphones come with its own carrying case. In this case, the earcups have metal hinges on the top that allow it to fold nicely. You can then store it away when not in use.
For a Bluetooth headphones, the Bose SoundLink sound as good as it looks. Audio performance is impressive. Sound is crisp and clear, with good deep bass that doesn’t overpower everything else. I like that the audio quality is more balanced and more natural.
Being on-ear headphones, the passive noise reduction does a good job of keeping outside noise out. It doesn’t block out outside sounds entirely, but it does a good enough job during listening sessions.
Call quality is good as well. I had no trouble taking and making calls. At first I thought the other person on the line will have difficulty hearing me. But surprisingly, my voice sounded clear and audible on the other side.
Battery life is rated at 15 hours. During testing, it lasted me throughout my day at work. And then some more during my 1 hour commute home.
The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth On-Ear Headphones is probably one of the best Bluetooth headphones in the market right now. It sounds good, it is comfortable for long use, and it comes with a carrying case. My only concern at this point is the price. At PHP 13,000, it is quite expensive. But the trade offs for its strengths are hard to ignore. Impressive audio performance, excellent build quality, and long battery life is what you will be paying for here. It’s not hard to recommend this. So if budget is not an issue, then by all means get one.
The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth On-Ear Headphones is now available through Bose retail stores in Metro Manila.
