Design

The ZeCircle smartwatch features an aluminum casing with an IP67 water resistance. It has a bezel-less plastic watch face and a minimalist design that I very much like. Build quality is great (even though the crystal is plastic). Despite the very light weight and thin profile, it feels very compact and strong. In fact, it’s so light that you’ll barely notice it on your wrist.

The strap is made of smooth rubber. It is tough and sturdy. It is also replaceable. You can use different colored ones by easily popping out the watch module from the strap. It fits securely on your wrist with a button lock.

The ZeCircle comes with a cradle that locks onto the smartwatch’s bottom using strong magnets. It can hold the watch firmly into place, and won’t easily dislodge. It has a micro USB port, and five pins that connects the watch to laptops and computers.

The ZeCircle smartwatch has an IP-67 certification rating. Its dust proof, and has water resisistant for up to 1 meter and 30 minutes. It shrugged off sweat while I ran with it (or walked with it). I also wore it while showering and experienced no problems.

Display and Performance

The ZeCircle smartwatch features a 64 by 32 pixel monochrome display. It is at the center of the watchface, and blends in easily with black background. It is bright and easy to read, but the shiny surface makes it prone to reflections.

The ZeCircle watchface is not a touch screen. It has a tap sensitive display that lets you cycle through the watch’s functions. During testing, I found that it is very responsive and works well without any problems.

The ZeCircle smartwatch connects with devices through Bluetooth. You can use it as a standalone device, syncing to a laptop, or as a companion device connected to a smartphone. I had problems connecting it to my Galaxy S6 and my ASUS ZenFone 2, but it worked well with my Huawei Honor 6 Plus and my Macbook Air.

There’s a tutorial video from the My Kronoz on YouTube detailing how to connect to your device. Click here if you want to watch it.

Through the app, you’ll see your activity stats like the number of steps, distance covered, calories burned and sleep patterns. You can also set goals and daily reminders. The watch alerts you by vibrating.

The pedometer works without a hitch. The number of steps it recorded was close to what I usually get when walking to work using the pedometer on the Galaxy S6 or the Samsung Gear S2.

You can also set the watch to get notifications for calls, texts, calendar, social media and email. The information scrolls from right to left. During testing, I set it to notify me for incoming calls, missed calls, sms and email. The vibration is enough to get my attention. It is very handy and its the function I enjoy the most.

Conclusion

The ZeCircle is a good looking smartwatch and activity tracker. It has a minimalist design and an IP-67 water resistance. It can notify you for calls and text, and has a useful pedometer. Those looking for a functional and affordable smartwatch can start with this one.
