Canon Philippines announces the Canon EOS R, the company’s first full-frame mirrorless interchangeable-lens digital camera.
Canon EOS R Full Frame Mirrorless Camera
The Canon EOS R is the company’s first 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor mirrorless interchangeable-lens digital camera with an electronic viewfinder (EVF). It comes with an RF mount with a large 54mm diameter, short flange focal distance of 20mm and a 12-pin high speed connection.
The EOS R features a 30.3MP full-frame Dual Pixel CMOS AF sensor with a DIGIC 8 imaging processor and an Auto Lighting Optimizer. It boasts focusing speeds of 0.05 seconds and 5,655 manually selectable AF positions.
The camera comes with an ISO range of 100-40,000 for stills and 100-25,000 for video. It also has a Dual Sensing IS for more effective stabilization equal to a maximum of up to 5 shutter speed steps.
Clad in a magnesium alloy body, the camera is compact and lightweight. It comes with a dust and moisture resistant sealing, and a well-balanced design with a deep grip.
It also sports a 3.69-million-dot OLED EVF, and a vari-angle touchscreen LCD. It is the first camera to feature FV exposure mode, allowing auto and direct control in one single mode for shutter speed, aperture and ISO sensitivity within the EVF. There is a dot-matrix LCD at the top of the camera providing more information that can be consulted at a glance.

The Canon EOS R is now open for pre-orders with a price of PHP147,98 for body-only, and PHP214,98 with an RF4-105mm USM kit lens. It comes with up to PHP48,224 worth of accessories that include an additional battery, mount adaptor, and more.

Canon launched its first four RF lenses — the RF24-105mm f/4L IS USM, RF50mm f/1.2L USM, RF28-70mm f/2L USM, and RF35mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM. All come with control rings that adjust shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and more.
The company also announced new adaptors for the EOS R to work with EF and EF-S lenses –Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, and Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R.
