Nokia 5.1 Plus starts receiving Android 9 Pie update

HMD Global recently announced that the Android 9 Pie update for the Nokia 5.1 Plus is now seeding to Filipino users.

The Android 9 Pie adds new features, apart from the security patches and performance improvements. These features include:

• App Actions – Helps get things done faster by predicting your next move and displaying the right action on your phone.
• Slices – Identifies relevant information on your favorite apps to make them more easily accessible when you need them.
• Adaptive Battery – Uses deep learning to understand usage patterns and prioritize battery power on important apps.
• New System Navigation and Gesture Controls – Features a single home button that provides intelligent predictions and suggestions (user-enabled).

It also adds the new Digital Wellbeing features that include:

• Dashboard – Highlights screen time and phone usage, including how many times the device has been unlocked and the number of notifications received
• App Timers – Sets time limits on app usage
• Wind Down and Do Not Disturb – Allows users to set a daily schedule to get your phone ready for bed. Wind Down fades your screen to Grayscale while Do Not Disturb silences notifications for a restful sleep. You can activate Do Not Disturb anytime you want to disconnect.

With the Nokia 5.1 Plus update, a total of seven Nokia smartphones are now on the latest Android 9 Pie.

The Nokia 5.1 Plus comes with a back-to-back glass build, a 5.8-inch HD IPS display, an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, and 3,060mAh battery.

It has dual 13MP + 5MP cameras at the back and an 8MP shooter in front. The secondary sensor of the main camera is for depth information.

With a price of PHP12,990, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is available on authorized Nokia online resellers MemoXpress and Argomall, and in retail stores and kiosks nationwide.
