iPadOS is now available

The iPadOS is now available for download on all compatible iPads a week before its original scheduled release date.

The latest iPad update is version 13.1 with a file size of about 1.8GB. The new OS is designed to improve the productivity functions of the iPad. For those planning to update their iPads, be sure to perform a backup first.

Among the many new features the iPadOS, the first thing to greet users will be the new home screen layout. It now lets you place widgets on the left side of the icons.

There are a couple of multitasking features included in the update as well. The Slide Over and Split View were improved for better workflow. You can run multiple apps on Slide Over; and on Split View, you can have the another instance of an app on a split screen view.

The update also has new keyboard shortcuts and a much improved Files app. The former helps navigating the web in Safari, while the latter makes managing files easier, faster and simpler. The Files app has a column view that includes a more details about the file. You can now also access and manage files on USB drives and SD cards on supported iPads.

The Safari web browser was also updated. You can now use it to access desktop versions of websites. It can also download and save files onto a folder in the Files app.

In a way, the new features will make compatible iPads a viable alternative laptops or at least a companion device for your laptop. It’s a lighter solution to enhance your productivity.
