Renders of what looks like an upcoming iPhone is making the rounds online. The leaked images seems to be the rumored iPhone SE 2. Only it might end up being called the iPhone 9.
That’s right. It might be called iPhone 9, even though we’re now on iPhone 11. They did skip 9, so who knows. But for now, we’ll stick with iPhone 9.
The renders are from OnLeaks and shows a device that looks like it came from 2016. It has a 4.7-inch display with huge top and bottom bezels, and a Touch ID sensor. The back has a frosted glass panel with a single camera and the Apple logo. It is expected to come with the latest A13 Bionic chipset that debuted with the iPhone 11.
OnLeaks also shared the iPhone 9’s dimensions — 138.5 x 67.4 x 7.8mm. It’s a size that’s close to the 2017 iPhone.

The iPhone 9 is going to be positioned as a budget iPhone. It could run a notch lower beside the best-selling iPhone XR or it could succeed it. Either way, if they price this right, Apple could have another hit on its hands.
What do you think of the iPhone 9 / iPhone SE 2? Would you consider getting one?

We will get the iPhone 9 (whatever it’s called!) to replace our original iPhone SE. It is a shame the successor has to be so much larger. The reasons are obvious & inescapable – it will need the increased interior room for the up-to-date hardware & more powerful battery and with the larger size, Apple will be able to use bits & pieces already developed larger phones (like the 8) to keep production costs down. But the smaller size & different form-factor of the original SE was the main attraction for a lot of buyers, even more than the affordable price-point. It was for us. We’ll get the new one anyway.
