Minecraft is YouTube’s most-watched gaming content for 2020.
Globally, viewers spent over 100 billion hours watching gaming content on YouTube. And most of that was spent on Microsoft’s sandbox video game Minecraft.
According to The Year in YouTube Gaming report, Minecraft amassed over 201 billion views, globally. Its no surprise considering how popular it is. Since its release in 2011, the game has sold over 200 million units worldwide, making it one of the best selling games of all time.
Roblox content was second highest on the list with 75 billion views. It is followed by Garena Free Fire with 72 billion views, Grand Theft Auto V with 70 billion views, and Fortnite with 67 billion views.
Content creators on the platform has also seen massive increases in subscribers and viewership throughout 2020. The report adds that over 80,000+ creators hit the 100,000 subscriber mark, 1,000 creators reached the 5 million subscriber mark, and around 350+ creators crossed the 10 million subscriber mark.

One good example of such rise was Minecraft content creator Dream, who grew from 1 million subscribers in January 2020 to over 13 million by October on the same year.
The report also shared the platform’s top gaming content creators in 2020, which include FGTeeV, Jelly, Flamingo, Robin Hood Gamer, ItsFunneh, LazarBeam, and Slogo.
