Nowadays, we are so used to using and calling smartphones that many of us have forgotten (or don’t know) how to call landline phones. Understandably so, because landlines are becoming far less important for homes, but it’s something you should know in case you need it.
In this article, we will show you how to call a landline phone using your Smart, Globe, or DITO mobile phones.
How to call a landline phone using your mobile phone
First off, you cannot directly dial a 7-digit or 8-digit landline number from your mobile phone. To do this, you have to add the area code before the landline number on your dialer.
For example, if you are calling a PLDT landline in Metro Manila with an area code of 02 using a Smart or Globe mobile phone, you would need to dial 02 87654321.
Area Code + Landline Number
Ex: 02-87654321
If you are calling a Philippine landline number from abroad or overseas, you have to include the country code, the area code, and then the landline number. The Philippine country code is +63. The format is as follows:
PH Country Code + Area Code + Landline Number
Ex: +632 87654321 or 00 632 87654321
8 Digit GMM Number Expansion
Landline numbers in Greater Metro Manila (GMM) have been expanded to 8 digits. GMM encompasses Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, and Cavite. Those with area code 02 are affected.

How this works is that you just add an additional number before the existing landline number. Here are the new formats.
- PLDT/Digitel – (02) 8 XXX XXXX
- Globe Telecom/Innove – (02) 7 XXX XXXX
- Bayantel – (02) 3 XXX XXXX
- Eastern – (02) 5 XXX XXXX
- ABS-CBN Converge – (02) 6 XXX XXXX

How much does it cost to call a PLDT landline number from a cell phone?
Hi. I think the cost of calling a landline from a Smart or Globe Prepaid line is P7.50 per minute. Most postpaid plans in the country, however, offer free calls to landlines.
