Live images of the realme 9 Pro+ show off Light Shift color-changing design

The realme 9 Pro+ is scheduled for a global launch on February 16, 2022. Among the features that are set to come with the phone is the Light Shift color-changing design. Recently, images of the handset popped online, showing off how it works.

The live photos posted on Twitter appears to belong to an employee of realme. In it, the phone shows off how it changes colors from blue to a shade of pinkish-purple when placed under the sun for a few seconds. However, the camera island remains the same color.

This looks like the same UV-sensitive dye that vivo used on its latest V23 5G smartphone (which, by the way, is now available in the Philippines). The handset’s back panel shifts from Sunrise Gold to a blue-green gradient when exposed to sunlight or a UV light.

Recently, realme revealed that the 9 Pro+ will come with a Sony IMX766 OIS Camera capable of shooting flagship-level high-quality photos. It will also feature self-developed ProLight imaging technology which works to improve nighttime photography. While it remains to be seen what real-world results will look like, samples the brand shared comparing the 9 Pro+ to other flagships look promising.

Apart from the camera, realme has not released much information about the upcoming device. But a few details that they shared include the Dimensity 920 chip, an AMOLED display, a triple camera setup, and realme UI 3 based on Android 12.

Either way, we’ll find out more when the device launches to the world on February 16, 2022.
