The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has extended the free EDSA Carousel bus rides. They are also implementing Libreng Sakay, which provides free rides for students who use MRT-3, LRT-2, and the PNR.
With the return of face-to-face classes in the upcoming school year, measures were put in place to ease the financial burden on Filipino families and students as fuel prices continue to rise.
The free EDSA Carousel bus rides will run until December 2022. Meanwhile, the Libreng Sakay for Students program will be in effect from August 22, 2022, until November 4, 2022.
The Department of Education (DepEd) estimates that over 38,000 schools will resume face-to-face classes for the school year 2022-2023. Expect an increase in traffic, as well as more commuters using buses and trains.
